Dog: Cooper, 5yr old Male, Labrador

Pulling, jumping, just being a dog?
That's what we thought until we met Cheryl. Simple yet complex, she helped us understand our dogs behavioral patterns. That made the biggest difference for us. A passionate person who loves her job, Cheryl is one of the best out there.

We've had Cooper start with Cheryl as a puppy and could not be happier to have found her. We were able to start out on a good path of understanding our young Labrador's behavioral patterns. Cheryl taught us not only how to fix a problem, but how to understand why the behavior was happening. Her loving, yet steadfast approach to teaching and training makes her the best and Cooper just loves her! If you need a trustworthy team member for you and your four legged friend, We highly recommend Cheryl. She has been a huge influence into our dogs amazing well being. During our time with Cheryl, we have added a beautiful baby girl to our family, Kyla, and Cooper is her best friend. Thanks to Cheryl and all of her guidance, he is soo good with her.

Dog: Mya, 5 year old Female, English Mastiff

Mya was very smart and I knew she would grow to be way bigger than me. I needed to know that I could control her with my words because she was going to be too strong.
We started with a private lesson when Mya when she was a rambunctious puppy. Cheryl was very informative, gave us all our options and the services she offers. My immediate impression was that she really knew what she was talking about and how to translate that to us.
Mya’s play biting was extreme and Cheryl help me understand it and survive it.New Paragraph

Dog: Marley, 4 year old Female, Portuguese Water Dog

We were very new at owning a dog. 12 weeks into having Marley we were looking every where for help Vets, Friends etc, Cheryl's name continually came up. So we decided to reached out.
Right off the bat we were very impressed by Cheryl during the initial evaluation on all of us. She was amazing! Marley picked up on the commands from Cheryl right away which shocked us because we didn't even know that could be done.We knew we had the right trainer. Her love, compassion, enthusiasm and how she cares for what she does shows every day in her work. We found Cheryl's method to be strict but in a good way. She had no problem telling us how it was and offered solutions to help with the progression.

Dog: Meeya, 5 month old Female, Labrador

Looking for a well trained dog. No problems with the puppy just wanted to start training early.
We think she is very knowledgeable in her profession. She understands what dogs think. Good at training the owners more than the dog. Prepared the owner to train without her.
Working with Cheryl is very enjoyable we appreciate all the help and will continue to work with her. We highly recommend her work to others.

Dog: Mardi, 4 month old, Australian shepherd

I inquired at the vet's about a trainer and they referred me to call Cheryl.
Awesome!! My dog loves Cheryl so she responds well to her. Very happy with my dogs responses. I was looking for a good trainer and I feel like the best one was picked.”
Also enjoyed watching the puppies socialize in the Puppy Class.
I play tennis and when speaking to a lady about the classes I was attending with Aubrey. It turned out this woman also knew Cheryl and said she would never let anyone else work with her dog. You can tell Cheryl loves what she does.

Dog: KD, 9 year old Female German Shepherd (DOB: 9/4/2007)
Dog: Lily, 5 ½ month old Female Husky mix (DOB: 10/9/2015)

We were looking for a trainer to help control our other dog Katie to assure that she would not be a danger to others. I also wanted my two dogs to be compatible in the house together.
We with Cheryl when Katie was a puppy in Jan 2008. Cheryl is very observant in seeing how you as a family work together with the dog. That was really helpful because every family has different personalities together. The fact that she was able to pinpoint those things is why I believe her training is so successful.

Dog: Boone, 2 year old Male Mastador

We got a new puppy and wanted to make sure we integrated the puppy into a multiple dog home properly.
We've been working with Cheryl for almost 7 years, and there is no doubt she was born to do this. Her honesty and encouragement has built my self-confidence. I feel more confident now on how to overcome problems with my dogs different personalities.

Dog: Luna, 8 months old Female Lab mix

We called Cheryl because we were in a complete panic. Luna is our first dog and we were scared to death. The work that Cheryl has helped us with saved our lives. Luna was a typical puppy, but we had no idea what to expect. Cheryl helped calm my nerves and understand what Luna needed.
We started with Private Lesson then moved Puppy Kindergarten. Currently we have completed the Basic 1 and Basic 2 group courses as well as continued Private Lessons. We can confidently survive Luna’s adolescence stage through training Cheryl provides.
Watching Cheryl work is an experience you have to see in person, she really works magic.

Dog: Princess, 5 month old Female Silky Terrier

We needed to do something with our dog, couldn't make the dog do anything. We needed help!
Excellent.. Very pleased with her way with Princess.. Princess is very hyper and Cheryl showed us just a few things and now we don't have an issue. We can control her now and she responds when spoken too.
Was in Pet Plus in Parrish looking for a remote control collar to help with the barking. I ran into another woman who referred me to Cheryl by giving me her phone number. Great referral!! In my opinion “Word of mouth” is the best way.

Dog: Teddy

I brought Teddy home when he was eight weeks old. I had been looking for the perfect dog for a few months. I was looking for certain characteristics as well as a low shed dog. When his little face popped up on my Facebook feed needing a home I fell in love. I know I wasn’t 100% sure he was the perfect dog but at that moment I knew he was going to be my dog.
If I wasn’t holding him he would sit as far away as possible and just look at me. Independent little guy. There was also the huge temper tantrum he had with a rock during our walk. He wasn’t just playing with this rock he was fighting it. When I tried to pull him away he acted more aggressive over that rock. I picked him up to leave and I think his head spun in circles like he was possessed. When we got home I put him in his crate and just stared at him. I couldn’t believe an eight week old puppy could act that way.
As the weeks past I could tell he was smart. He learned commands very easily. I wanted to teach him how to be the very best dog. As my second dog I wanted to do everything right this time. I now know he only let me groom him because he was sleeping not because he was easily compliant. It wasn’t long before he didn’t let me do anything to him. I wasn’t even able to put a leash on him without bribing him. Everything asked of him was the end of the world. The vet even suggested he might need medication. I kept trying to teach him appropriate behavior. Surely he would understand I'M THE BOSS. I watched so many episodes of The Dog Whisperer. Surely this dog who is already doing tricks will learn to obey, be calm and submissive.
I think Teddy was only three months old when I threw in the towel and called Cheryl for help. I was afraid Teddy was turning into an aggressive “soon to be a biter” dog. I will forever be grateful that she fit me into her schedule faster then I ever expected and it wasn’t a moment too soon. Everything I thought I knew and everything my friends told me to do was wrong and only making Teddy worse. I have learned the true meaning of positive reinforcement. I believe if I kept on my same path of trying to be the “alpha” and not understanding that a happy dog is not always going to be calm submissive I would have turned Teddy into a biter. I would have ruined him. Today Teddy is far from calm submissive. But he also isn't the alpha. Nor am I. He is two years old now and listens to me because he is a happy dog not because he fears me.

Dog: Lola and Bear

Thank you for introducing my poms (Lola and Bear) and I to Aubrey Abarr. She is amazing. It was like my pups were on the playground and in finishing school at the same. They actually enjoyed the learning. Aubrey has an honest love of dogs and it manifests itself in her classes. She is patient, knowledgeable, and inventive. I would not only attend her class again, but I would heartily recommend her to anyone considering taking their (canine) babies to school.

Color me impressed.
