Private Lessons (Basic Obedience and Behavior Training) will require an evaluation to determine the best course of action. An evaluation allows the Trainer to gain a thorough understanding of why the dog is behaving the way it is. From that point we take what the owner tells us, what the dog shows the Trainer and how the two interact together and provide a realistic projection of how we would work together. After the evaluation, the following questions should be answered:

1) What does the owner want to dog to learn?

2) What is realistic to expect from the dog?

3) What are the roots beneath the behavior the dog is displaying?

4) How many sessions or what kind of service would be best suited for the case?

Examples:

  • Teaching door manners, so that dogs learn not to jump on people at the front door. Proper responses when they hear the doorbell
  • Developing practical obedience commands like; get back, come in from outside, not crowding the owner space, get out of the kitchen, get away from the table, go lay down etc.
  • Learning appropriate manners when walking dogs in their community. How to greet and avoid other dogs, how to behave when owners would like to stop and speak to someone on a walk etc.
  • Specifically teaching children how to play with their dogs, proper tug-of-war, fetching, “Drop it” , “Find it”, put their toys away after playing
  • Potty Training, Crate Training
  • Inter-dog aggression, resource guarding (aggression over food and toys), possessiveness of certain family members, barking at windows and doors, etc.
